My mother died in Feb 2013. It's June 2014, and they *still* don't have the year of her death etched on her burial plaque, even though we've called about it -- twice. When my father died several years earlier (as my parents are interred here together), they could not locate his urn that they said would take "a long time" to find since it had been sitting in storage for years -- apparently they don't keep very good records. Up to the last minute, they were still looking for it, but only with our constant prodding and pressure. Ditto in order to make sure the veteran's marker was placed out, and we still had to call to get it right after his funeral. My family was in touch with the cemetery all the time (with correct papers), but the laziness and disorganization of this place is appalling. I'm calling the state; the woman at Cedar Knoll should find herself some competent help or else leave her position.

My heart is broken. your cemetery, where my Dad is buried, has decided to begin to enforce their 'no decorations' policy after 8 years??!! Dad's grave will go completely unadorned on Memorial Day weekend for the first time in 9 years. You even pulled up all the shrubs!!! The shrub, and the hanging plant hooks and chimes were all found in a heaping pile at the back of the workshop building. They even took away his flag!!! No doubt the cemetery was bought by a republican jerk. BTW: My father was a WWII vet. My grandfather a WWI vet. Oldest brother a Vietnam vet. Younger brother in Germany during the cold war. Nephew in Afghanistan. I could continue with uncles and cousins and even an aunt, but you get the point I'm sure. I don't care if it was always on the books as a 'rule'. The cemetery always was a place for me to go to remember my Dad and now it's a cold place. No doubt your decision was due to the extra costs associated...and please don't even try to defend it.
